If there are mistakes here  please let us know so we can correct anything that needs correcting.

The Huntingdon Valley Shopping Center was  presented 10-1-12  at the Code Enforcement Land Development Committeee . It actually is an attractive plan that  puts the Rite Aid into the left hand side  of the complex - where the restaurant  is ( behind the restaurant?  not sure... ) then puts a road between the Rite Aid & the rest of the complex.
Parking along the Vansant fenceline  will be removed - and there will actually be more greenspace then there was ( knocked me over with a feather - and thank you to Kravco).  In addition there will be storm water management features and rain gardens.

I can tell you in all of the development that I've seen, this one seemed to not intrude on the rights of others and may be a nice improvement in services as well as aesthetics.

It was approved tonight - final approval will be at the next Bord of Commissioners meeting.

9-19-12 On the Planning Commission agenda ...Sept 19, 2012
………… the application of, Kravco Company, LLC, owners of the property locatedat 801 Huntingdon Pike have requested final land developmer to include approval on the plan as submitted. The owners propose alterations to the existing shopping centoval of a portion of the existing building and the addition of a drive thru lane for the Rite Aid Pharmacy. The proposed improvements also include an on-site storm water

management system, alterations to the on-site parking layout and additional landscaping along the Vansant Road property line. The property is zoned within the (PB) Planned Business District of Ward #3 of the Township of Abington.

Find the plans at the very bottom of the page at http://www.abingtonpa.gov/resident/plans%20and%20maps.htm

*   We do not yet know if all changes here are strictly within the zoning rights or if exceptions have been asked - please let us know if you get the answer to that .

If you feel action or more information is necessary don't forget to:

_   USE  THE TOOLS AVAILABLE TO YOU
Ask your Commissioners and your Township manager (click here) specifically to

1) ...post a SINGLE webpage on this with links to find meetings, updates & all the plans
2) ...tape  all meetings on this topic & air them on our public channel -
the devil is really in the details
-then  you can review or catch up on a meeting you missed . This is actually important .
3) ... post all the taped meetings on-line with time reference points and fast forward features
4) .. create an email list for all updates and - invite ALL residents via Township & Commissioners
lists to be on it so they can receive updates in their box if they desire
5) ...provide a meeting space ( already paid by your taxes ) for neighbors to hold their own open
discussions whenever they choose - not called by or moderated by authorities.
6) ... provide residents  a summary of  all changes  being proposed in  2 column/compare style
7)  Finally: neighbors, please make your own meetings open to all  - if you try to limit
transparency hoping to benefit only your point of view, then you will find it limited
for yourself  --- you will be part of the problem not the solution

Email me if you need help contacting others.   I also have a great deal of information about how our processes work and what is happening elsewhere in the Township that might be helpful to your situation.

Knowledge is power. Stay informed to help shape your community and make a difference.

Abington Township, with John Spiegelman in charge, revamped the entire Township website at the end of 2015 and broke all the links to the information we had archived on this site for you.   In 2017, Manager Richard Manfredi arrived and assigned someone not qualified to redo the entire website again. They not only broke all archived links we had reinstated, but made everything as impossible to find as they could. Nearly all of our comments and recommedations to fix the Township website have been wholly ignored.

So we do need volunteers to work together helping the Township create a site that is functional and accessible.  We will be reinstating links as we find them....if the data is still available. So... please let us know if you find a broken link. Send us the URL of the link  and the name of the page it is on, and if we can, we'll reinstate it.
Thanks for the help.
