Volunteers Needed

for Sandy Run Creek Restoration Planting Project at Roslyn Park

The Abington Township EAC, STC, Trails & Roslyn Park committees need your help with Phase 2 of the

Planting Plan for the Sandy Run Creek

Who: Volunteers who want to work on an environmental project that result in water quality improvements to the Sandy Run Creek and Watershed

Where: Roslyn Park, Abington Township

(located along the Sandy Run Creek across the first bridge near the playground equipment at Fernwood & Thomson Aves.)

When: Saturday, October 20, 2007

            9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (or until we are done)

What you need: gloves, work shoes, hand trowel

Lunch for volunteers will be sponsored by

John Carlin, Commissioner of Ward 15

Abington Township received a grant from TreeVitalize to implement the 2nd phase of The Roslyn Park Landscape Restoration & Management Plan.  NAM Planning & Design will be directing the restoration efforts. We need volunteers to assist in the streambank restoration. The types of tasks we need volunteers for are: planting small native trees, shrubs, wildflowers and grasses; putting down wildflower seed; pruning invasive plants; and repairing the eroded banks. Learn more about your local watershed and ways to improve it while volunteering on this important community project.

We will be working RAIN or SHINE, so mark your calendars!

Knowledge is power. Stay informed to help shape your community and make a difference.

Abington Township, with John Spiegelman in charge, revamped the entire Township website at the end of 2015 and broke all the links to the information we had archived on this site for you.   In 2017, Manager Richard Manfredi arrived and assigned someone not qualified to redo the entire website again. They not only broke all archived links we had reinstated, but made everything as impossible to find as they could. Nearly all of our comments and recommedations to fix the Township website have been wholly ignored.

So we do need volunteers to work together helping the Township create a site that is functional and accessible.  We will be reinstating links as we find them....if the data is still available. So... please let us know if you find a broken link. Send us the URL of the link  and the name of the page it is on, and if we can, we'll reinstate it.
Thanks for the help.
