ADDRESS CONCERNS TO JUST YOUR COMMISSIONER? Although you are
frequently told to address your issues through your one
Commissioner, your Commissioner may have a completely different
point of view , so he may not present your position on an issue to
the Board at all . Since all the other Board members vote on
each issue, it is important that they understand how others are
being affected - even those not in their Ward.
lone Commissioner, even if he IS presenting your view, is easily
(and most frequently) out-voted by the other 14, as
has been seen in spades in important issue after important
issue - especially zoning issues. The
and others show us that the actions of one affect us all re: amount of greenspace, traffic, stormwater, etc. ....
. These are the things
that create quality of life and bring the value to our homes for
ALL of us. So it is important
to address ALL those who will be voting on your concerns.
Besides calling or
emailing a single Commissioner ( or several or all ) you
can attend a Board meeting - where we
residents have worked hard to enable you to have full speaking
rights - even to bring up an issue that the Commissioners did
NOT put on the agenda. You have 3 mins at the end of
each full Board meeting to do so - and Comnmisioners who are
Committee heads can allow you to speak freely at the end of
any Committee topic at the Committee meetings. See
Public Comment for more info .
