MANOR WOODS
 (formerly Summerford)

MANOR WOODS - Near Forest and Douglas Ave will stay "open" for now .  Residents came  out in great numbers Jan 11 2012 to the meeting where it was to be discussed whether sports playing fields  would be in the plans at this Open Space purchase.  Aproximately  5.2 Acres  bought  in early 2008  for 2 million. (Rumored to have been offered  for less than half that a few years earlier, with no significant improvements made -  if anyone would like to follow up on that we'd appreciate your sharing ) A health care corporation from Maryland previously wanted to build a 64-bed Alzheimer's facility on the property and apparently had an agreement of sale to purchase the property from the sisters of St. Basil the Great.  The zoning for their building, Summerford Place,  was not approved. The property was subsequently sold to the Township.   . As of  2-12 Commissioner Jay O'Connor says currently it will remain as open space . In the future  there will be meetings with residents to see if trails or any amenities will  be considered.
