what Do the "r" (grey circleS ) and "T" ( dotted blue line circle )
MEAN
?
R=Grey Circles -
MIXED Residential USES 1/4 MILE AROUND
SHOPPING CENTER (The ones on this yellow map still depict 1/2
mi. THE vISION will ALLOW for denser, multi-unit
Residential forms -Duplexes, Triplexes, TWINS & more but it excludes
r1 -- the wealthiest of our neighbors with minimum 1 acre lots. why is
that? if you are wealthy you should not get treated the way the
riff-raff is .... or are tHey afraid that powerful voices and deep
pocketed donors might be offended?
T= DOTTED BLUE CIRCLES -
Transit Oriented
districts - THE VISION IS FOR VERY DENSE DEVELOPMENT INCLUDING
both RESIDENTIAL & COMMERCIAL WITHIN 1/2 MILE OF A TRAIN
On the shopping center parking lots
they want to allow apartment
buildings with garages for the parking space they're replacing
more is
possible BUS STATION circles MAY ALSO BE ADDED.
they were discussed TRANSITIONS ZONES ARE
were discussed, WE
DON'T KNOW WHERE all YET ....but
highland ave behind the hospital was mentioned, even though they
fought that tooth and nail at the time of the 2017 rewrites - 6
years later they are caught trying to sneak it in again, fairly
certain no one is paying close attention

Manager Manfredi and Former COMR Mike Thompson WITHDREW THIS MAP
FROM THE PLANS LONG
before the committee concluded its
work AND the committee, who
already met with the public each month and received comments, never
finished its work by handling that chapter. Manager manfredi
THEN said THEY Want to MEET WITH
THE PUBLIC FIRST BEFORE DECIDING WHAT the map will look like. that was
the whole point of the committee - to meet with the public each month
and conduct its business until they had an agreed upon plan.
I would beg to differ
with the managers effort to convince you anything other than that it
was withdrawn to keep the "poPulace" from getting restless ......
until the very last minute, then they would pass it quickly BEFORE THE
WORD OF THE ACTUAL PLAN GOT OUT. Manfredi NOW WILL HOLD
ONE MEETING. YES,
ONE --
COUNT 'EM, ONE -- just
one meeting
with the public WHILE THROWING AWAY A YEAR AND A HALF TO 2 YEARS OF
INPUT BY THE PUBLIC.
THE MEETING will be ON
MAY 25TH, 2023 and 80 to 90 % of the "public" is
unlikely to even know it is happening, even if they personally will be
dramatically affected. and trust me, if i woke up and found out the
house beside me was becoming an apartment building, triplex or maybe a
business, i would consider myself dramatically affected.
BECAUSE
THEY WITHHELD ALL THE INFORMATION for over 2 years, THE AVERAGE
RESIDENT WILL BE UNAWARE OF THE ACTUAL ISSUES GOING INTO THAT MEETING.
they also will not hear THE TWO YEARS OF TESTIMONY FROM THEIR FELLOW
RESIDENTS that was given to the committee. that testimony is being thrown out in favor of what will result from
this one meeting, AND they WILL likely BE SOLD THE MYTHS OF "
WALKABILITY ", "EXPANDED TAXBASE", "SAVING THE MALL" and other fairy
tales, WITHOUT ANY TIME FOR DISCUSSION WITH ONE ANOTHER BEFORE
a quickly crafted version that reflects largely what they want is
brought to the june 15TH
SESSION and then shepherded forward to the vote.
iT IS EXPECTED, TO
GO to COMP PLAN
CONSISTENCY COMMITTEE and we don't know if there are any other
stops before a full board of commissioners vote.
SHOULDN'T IT -- WILL IT --- GO TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION? WE DON'T
KNOW - BECAUSE THEY ARE MAKING IT all UP AS THEY GO since mr
manfredi's arrival. OUR ONCE SOLID PROCESS FOR PASSING THINGS HAS BEEN
DISMANTLED.
FALSE FIGURES
- NOT ONLY DID FORMER COMR THOMPSON LEARN
FROM US THAT THE NUMBERS IN THE COMP PLAN WERE INCORRECT AND EVEN
DIFFERED ON DIFFERENT PAGES OF THE PLAN, BUT AFTER A FULL
REVIEW, AND AFTER ADMITTING THE FIGURES AND FORECASTS WERE NOT
CORRECT, HE DECIDED THEY WERE NOT GOING TO CHANGE ANYTHING. STUNNING ,
ISN'T IT . SO THERE IS AN ACTUAL ATTEMPT TO DECEIVE, WHEN THEY
GIVE YOU BOGUS NUMBERS AND TELL YOU WE NEED
TO PROVIDE HOUSING TO ACCOMMODATE THESE POPULATION PROJECTIONS.
IN A NUTSHELL, IF YOU DON'T BUILD THESE UNITS, THE POPULATION
WILL NOT INCREASE. I DON'T ENJOY BEING DECEIVE.... DO YOU?
____________________________________
all of the AREAS
i tried to define with my arrows are approximate - i did them because the township
refuseD to put this on an interactive map like
a gis map so you can find your property and see if it is in one of
the circles and understand what they are doing. WE MAY
HAVE THINGS WRONG BECAUSE THEY HAVE REFUSED TO ANSWER QUESTIONS. what
a shame when residents are treated like this. you deserve better.
The shareable link for this page
you are on called " Are You In A Circle" is :
https://abingtoncitizens.com/page/AreYouInACircle.htm

Ignore the
faint red line circles - those were the former 1/2 mi around a
shopping center - now they are 1/4 mi
here IS A
GIS zoning Map - you can PUT IN YOUR ADDRESS AND YOU CAN SEE WHERE YOU
ARE on it - then go back to the land use map ABOVE ..to try
see if you can better PLACE your home AND SEE IF it is in A circle

Knowledge is power. Stay informed to help shape your community and make a difference.
Abington Township revamped the entire Township website at the end of 2015
and broke all the links to the information. In 2017, under Richard
Manfredi,
someone inexperienced was assigned to redo the entire website again.
The public was not asked what problems they would like to see fixed. Their new plan was
not well thought out, so everything was very hard to find and there were giant
paragraphs you had to slog through in order to find the pertinent one or two
lines that you needed. Or if you were lucky enough to even find the meetings and
agenda page, there was (and still is) a whole page
of nonsense on top, so you think you're on the wrong page. Zoom limks are
burrid in a giant paragraph, so people can't find them to attend the meeting.
They know about these problems - but have just decided to ignore us....
for the whole of Richard Manfredi's time here (with Tom Hecker's consent).
Now, in 2025, we are due to get a new Manager,
and there are funds put aside to, once again, upgrade the Township website. We can only hope for a
fresh chance at fixing some of these things, as our Township website is the best tool we
have for communication and should be an easy, user friendly site for all.
We need volunteers willing to work together to help improve the Township site
that everyone has to use, to make it functional and accessible.
We will be repairing our broken links in this Abington Citizens site,
too, and fixing some of our many, many
typo's as much as is possible. (Yes, it's quite evident that, unlike the
Township, WE don't have a paid staff of 275+ or a $93 million budget).
So...please let us know if you find broken links
or typos. Send us the URL
and/or
and the name of the page it is on, so we can correct it.
Thanks for the help.
